Families can enjoy the parks and playgrounds of Nikko as well as the many traditional festivals. There are always plenty of sweet and savory treats to eat at vendor tables during festivals as well as traditional toys to play with such as flutes, whistles and drums.

Visiting youth can also enjoy interacting with local children who participate in festival events wearing traditional regalia and playing traditional instruments. Local hiking trails and pathways through wooded areas and fields are often lined with interactive stations.

One such trail near Nikko Park Lodge offers kids and adults alike a zip line, a 100 meter slide, and small ponds full of frogs and tadpoles for all to enjoy. Nikko also offers horseback riding, fishing, traditional woodcarving lessons, pottery painting, glass blowing, and cloth dying for the whole family. But of course there is always the opportunity to explore trails through the amazing world heritage old growth forests of the area.
